About

EVMeme exists for two reasons: to showcase the latest buzz in the electric vehicle world and to poke fun at the seriousness with which many of those in the EV universe take their technology.

This is me.. umm.. fixing something

Hi, my name is Aaron Turpen and I am an accredited journalist and writer and one of the things I cover is alt-fuel vehicles, especially electrics.  I write for FutureCars.com,* I wrote for Zoomilife.com* until it went on sabbatical, I own and write for the site GreenBigTruck.com,* and I love all things in and around the technology of future transportation.

Being a journalist and covering news is something that I enjoy, but the hardest aspect of it, for me, is keeping an objective view.  On Zoomilife,* I was able to get a little “snarky” and make fun of those things I thought to be, well, ridiculous.  Most of the time, however, this is not the way editors prefer their reporting.

It’s occurred to me that, while that objectivity and lack of editorializing is what fits for most news outlets (no matter their subject matter), it may not be what everyone wants.  Plus, in order to keep my objectivity when writing for those outlets, I really needed some kind of outlet for my humor and point of view.

So I began EVMeme.

What you’ll see here are not facts and figures and reporting based on news releases.  There are plenty of outlets for that (see our The Meme page).  In fact, I’d highly recommend FutureCars* if that’s what you’re after.  No, what you’ll see here is commentary, humor, and occasional editorializing on the state of the electric and alt-fuel vehicle markets and technologies.

Of course, this will all be interspersed with links to genuine news coverage of the subject in question.  The subject at hand will usually be the day’s most pervasive news item (hence the “meme” in the site’s title).

Obviously, a site like this thrives on user input, commentary, and counter-speech.  So feel free to chime in at any time to let me know what you think of my posts.  I prefer comments on the posts themselves, but if you would prefer to contact me directly, you can do so by emailing me at turpenaaron (at) gmail.com.

So let’s sit back, relax, and have some fun with the electric vehicle world and the news surrounding it.  Humor is good for the soul.
