Nissan’s motorsports arm, Nismo, has come up with another Leaf concept, this one designed for street use with a sportier, more aerodynamic body than the Leaf currently being sold on the market.
The concept debuted at the Tokyo Auto Show last week. The car has the same basic drive train as the production Leaf (same motor, batteries), but changed the bodywork and details to make it sleeker, slightly more efficient, and capable of a little more speed.
The Nismo Concept has LED lighting, including the headlights, and 18-inch alloy rims with low-profile rubber, 2 inches larger than the production Leaf. The aerodynamic body changes and very slightly lower ride mean better economy which is needed to retain the Leaf’s range and characteristics with the added downforce it gives.
This concept is more for style and looks than it is for speed and power. Still, it is a step up and would appeal to a younger crowd – especially if the paint were brightened up a little.
