Normally I spent my time here at EVmeme making fun of the goofy designs and (not so) “newsworthy” press releases that automakers and designers like to put out regarding their electric vehicles. Once in a while, though, something comes along that just needs to be shown off because it’s, well, cool.
This is one of those things. It’s the Lightning electric roadster from EnviroTech. Going with the classic Ford Roadster look, the kit car is a 2-seat powerhouse that runes on nothing but electrons. Even better, it can be purchased whole or in pieces and built in your own garage.
This car utilizes a 156V DC motor giving it a post-100 mile an hour speed and a pre-5-second 0-60mph. IT uses 13 12V deep cycle batteries from Delco to provide the juice and has a 40 mile range under “normal” (read: non-rubber-burning) conditions. Enough for the parade, after show, and a stop at the drive-in on the way home.
The full car costs $28,000 plus shipping and is built to order. Parts are considerably less.
Now that, folks, is pure awesomeness.
