The Denver Auto Show and KillaCycle

I honestly expected to spend a lot of time at the show in Denver, but after entering and walking the floor, I figured out in about half an hour that I wasn’t going to be there long.  I walked the displays, shot some photographs, interviewed a couple of people, and was out of there in about three hours.  For such a huge show, that should tell you how little there was to see (at least, from a green automotive perspective).

New Corvette Stingray Concept

Some old friends I’d met a while back where there, like EVolve, and I saw some of the new lineups from some car companies eager to have a better 2011 after their pathetic showings in 2009-10.

The real highlight of the day, though, came after I left the show.  I headed over to meet with Eva at KillaCycle and take a tour of their operations, check out some cutting-edge technology in batteries and motorsports, and to finally meet the

Eva and the Electrocat

two people most responsible for the world’s fastest electric motorcycle.

I got some KillaSwag, saw how Bill and Eva don’t just work on electrics and motorcycles, but literally live them – every room in their house has some kind of EV project happening.  I had a great time, despite my sleep deprivation and failing energy level, and fun conversation.  I can tell you that you won’t often meet anyone as intelligent and understated as Eva and rarely will you find someone as passionate and knowledgeable about electrics and electronics as Bill.  Truly two of a kind there.

I’ll have more detailed writeups and information coming soon to FutureCars and probably some more personalized commentary here over the next few days.

Sneak Peak: I will also be going in-depth in the near future with another of Bill and Eva’s projects involving electric big trucks!
